Lessons from Sam's Club

I confess. I can handle most situations well (such as the recent totaling of my car...r.i.p.), but when it comes to cheese and chocolate, apparently I have no self-control. Especially when it comes to bulk items. Specifically bulk cheese.

With great shame, I present to you Exhibit A:

Notice how the bag is completely empty? Notice how it says "36 pieces" on the left? Well, guess what? That bag was empty after only one week in my fridge.  Poor little individual-cheeses-sold-in-a-bulk-value-package didn't stand a chance.

And no, weirdo's, I am not constipated.  My other purchases of bulk kiwis and bulk blueberries evened out the playing field.

I am not allowed to purchase bulk cheese that is packaged in individual (deceptively small, seemingly innocent; however sneaky and taunting) servings anymore. I am not mature enough to handle to delicious temptation. I forbid myself.

ATTACK OF THE MANGROVE!

Ahhhh I made it!  You are no longer alone Raime :)  To start off--your blueberries and kiwis look amazing.  I have always wanted to paint a room that incorporated the colors of kiwis and another bold fruit color together...it always looks so pretty!

Okay so last night, I decided to tackle a recent donation from my Mother of fish that my Aunt and Uncle caught.  I will need to remind her that I do in fact live alone and not with a hoard of hungry penguin orphans.

So anyway, I decided to crack one open.

I wasn't sure what to do with it, but I do know that I like anything rolled in breadcrumbs and cooked in a small pat of butter.  No, not the Country Crap, but REAL BUTTER.  I did dredge it first in an egg dip that had oregano, salt, pepper, and some fresh lime juice.

I ate it's liver with a side of fava beans and a nice chianti.

Otherwise known as ravioli with pesto and a left over margarita in a festive jumbo insulated cup.

It was delicious :)  I am already planning on what to do with the other 10 packs of fish muhahahahahaha!!!

Strawberry Fields

So, Ive been busy, but here is a quick recap of the meals and snacks that I enjoyed last week.

1) kiwis and blueberries.  mmmmmm.  fresh and delicious.  and they got me out of my gala apple snack rut.
2) and while grocery shopping I spyed something new...
It is SOOOO delicious.  Peanut butter just cannot compare. Best new snack ever. I eat it one spoonful at a time.

3) I had been in the habit of just grabbing a larabar for breakfast, but then one day I decided to return to eggs for breakfast and had this...

Its a mushroom omelet topped with white cheddar cheese, fresh torn basil leaves, and halved yellow cherry tomatoes. I chopped the mushrooms up really small and sauteed them first. then cooked the egg, added the sauteed mushroom and folded the egg over it.  viola.

4) and here is the salad that I enjoyed yesterday for lunch...

It's my version of a Strawberry Fields salad:

Lots of spinach
a little bit of chopped lettuce for variety
sliced strawberries
chopped pecans
small amount of diced red onion
gorgonzola cheese crumbles (I went a little crazy with the cheese crumbles on this one)
balsamic vinaigrette (I used Newman's Own).

It was so good, I made another one for today's lunch.
